Cancellations:

If a refund is due and the original payment was made by credit card within the last six months, that same credit card will be credited within seven business days. For any wire transfer, company check, or credit card payment older than six months, refunds will be processed by check and may take up to five weeks to process.

Refunds For On-Campus and Live Virtual Courses: Reimbursements for dropping a live virtual course or a course delivered at Johns Hopkins University will be made according to the following schedule based on the number of calendar days prior to the start date of the course:

30 days prior to the course —Full refund (minus a $100 drop fee)

1-29 days prior to the course—No refund Refunds

For Self-Paced Online Courses: If your request to drop the course is sent within the first 48 hours from your time of enrollment, you will be eligible for a 100% tuition reimbursement minus a drop fee ($100). Otherwise, we will not refund any portion of your tuition. The Johns Hopkins Engineering Lifelong Learning reserves the right to decline refund requests.

Credit card refunds:

The Johns Hopkins Lifelong Learning policy for course cancellations must be received at least 5 business days prior to the course start date. Payments made via credit card will be automatically refunded in five-seven business days when the cancellation is made within 120 days of the payment date. For refunds for credit card payments cancelled 120 days or more after the payment, please contact us at [email protected].

Discounts and incentives:

Full-time, benefits-eligible Johns Hopkins University faculty or staff members are eligible to receive tuition remission if:

  • you are a full-time, benefits-eligible faculty or staff member who has been employed by JHU for at least 120 days
  • you continue in a full-time position while enrolled in courses.

You receive 100% remission if:

  • your department certifies that the course benefits your professional development
  • your department is willing to assume the cost if you do not attend the course or if you cancel with less than one week’s notice. The one-week cancellation notice is waived only for emergencies with written documentation.

There is an annual limit of 2 classes per calendar year for noncredit professional development courses taken at JHU. For more information on this policy, please refer to the HR website.

Johns Hopkins Medicine, Johns Hopkins Health Systems, and Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab employees receive a 20% tuition scholarship on all programs. Please enter your Johns Hopkins-affiliated email address on the course registration form to receive the discount.

WSE alumni receive a 15% tuition discount on all programs. Please use the options on the registration form to indicate your alumni status.

Intellectual property policy:

The content and any other intellectual property associated with this course is owned by Johns Hopkins University and shall not be redistributed or used for anything other than personal use. Intellectual property includes, but is not limited to, faculty developed teaching materials in electronic and print formats such as slides, lecture notes, lab exercises, web pages, audio and video recordings of the faculty, distance education materials, software, survey instruments, research and teaching data, assessment tools, and manuals.

Attendance:

Once registered, you are required to complete all program or course requirements. If you do so, you will receive the specific certificate associated with the program or course.

Grading:

Grades: JHU Lifelong Learning Professional Education courses do not grant letter grades for course completion. When you complete a course, you receive a certificate that states the number of Johns Hopkins University Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or continuing medical education credits (CMEs) earned.

Inclement weather:

If a JHU Engineering Lifelong Learning course needs to be canceled due to weather or other emergencies, the Lifelong Learning team will communicate any changes to the schedule through email and text alerts.
