Buck enlisted in the Air Force in 1972 and received his commission in 1976. He then retired as a Colonel after 29+ years serving in various operational, staff, and command positions. He joined The Johns Hopkins
University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) as a Project Area Manager.
In 2008, he joined Raytheon Solipsys as the Director of Business Development and held that position until 2012. Buck is currently a course manager, lecturer and student advisor for JHU Whiting School’s Engineering for Professionals Program. He has been teaching for JHU EP since 2002.
Buck has an undergraduate degree from Bryant University, and graduate degrees from Southern Illinois University, University of Oklahoma, and Air University. He is also a published author with articles in East Asia –
an International Quarterly; the book Can America Remain Committed–US Security Horizons in the 1990s; the first edition of Air University’s Airpower Journal; and in JHU/APL’s Technical Digest.
