Dr. Caban is the Chief of Clinical and Research Informatics at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). He leads a team supporting enterprise applications, machine learning, and analytics across 10+ military treatment facilities.
With over 13 years of experience in clinical and informatics research, he has authored 50+ scientific papers on informatics, AI, and predictive models. He has chaired committees such as the DHA Enterprise Intelligence IPT and the AMIA Visual Analytics group and served as Vice Chair of the 2016 IEEE Visualization conference.
Dr. Caban has received awards including the 2018 DHA Innovation Award and the AMSUS HealthIT Award. As adjunct faculty at USUHS and Johns Hopkins University, he mentors and teaches the next generation in informatics and data science.
